The Eternal Optimist
Tigers start the regular season this afternoon. I think we have enough talent to win the American League Central Division. Given a few breaks, we could make it back to the World Series -- and WIN IT this time. That is what I think, although a recent poll suggests otherwise.
Among adults who watch baseball regularly, 21-percent answering a Rasmussen Reports poll think Philadelphia will enjoy another World Series victory this year. Boston follows with 17-percent believing the Red Sox will once again win the Fall Classic, while 15-percent are putting their faith behind the New York Yankees. Not many people are predicting a repeat season for San Francisco. Only six-percent foresee the Giants taking a second consecutive championship title. Even fewer feel the Texas Rangers, who earned last year's American League pennant, will have a successful World Series run this year.
