‘The Discovery of King Tut’ Exhibition Coming to Grand Rapids Public Museum in 2015

The Grand Rapids Public Museum announced today that "The Discovery of King Tut" will make its Great Lakes debut at the museum on May 16, 2015.

Visitors will experience what it was like for Howard Carter and his team when they first discovered the tomb of King Tutankhamun in 1922.

The look into Tutankhamun’s tomb features more than 1,000 scientifically produced recreations hand-crafted by Egyptian artisans.

“The story of King Tut has fascinated the world since the discovery of his tomb in 1922. This exhibition presents the excavation itself as it was at the very moment it was revealed to the public,” said Dale Robertson, museum president and CEO.

The opening at Grand Rapids Public Museum will mark the third stop on the exhibition's U.S. tour.

Tickets will go on sale in spring for "The Discovery of King Tut".
