The BIG-OLD-BUILDING downtown Grand Rapids, and better known to all of us as simply The BOB, is growing.....big time.

Our news partner, WZZM TV13, reported The Gilmore Collection is changing the downtown building that houses several restaurants and a comedy club.

They have wanted to "grow" this new addition for the past several years, and have been working through many delays.  However, finally we get to see the new addition.  The new project will result in a new outdoor festival marketplace and "biergarten" facing the Van Andel Arena, new dining venues and a concert and event area with the capacity of holding 2,000 people.

They'll begin by renovating and expanding the space that had been Gilly's, which is on the ground floor facing the Van Andel Arena. A new, unnamed concept will be in its place and will include craft beers. It is slated to open on July 1st. The second phase starts after ArtPrize 2013 and will be done by June 1st of 2014. The rest of The BOB will remain open during the renovations.

Downtown just keeps getting better!
