My wife, Kathy, and I were talking the other day about our kids, all 7 of them.  They're on their own now and we are very proud of them.  They all have good careers, have been successful, thus far in their lives, and are happy.....we hope.

As parents, you want to help your kids as much as possible and guide them, support them, into the direction they want.  We nursed them through sickness, boyfriends/girlfriends, loves lost, loves gained, helped with college, some emergency financial situations as they arose, etc.

So, do you expect anything in return.  No!  You love them and your reward is their success and happiness.

Oh, wait.....there might be one more thing.  How about a new house for dear old Mom and Dad.

In a move that pretty much locks up Daughter of the Year honors for her, Taylor Swift has plunked down $2.5 million on a 5,600-square-foot Nashville mansion for her mom and dad.

Let this be a lesson to you, parents: supporting your children’s dreams can really pay off. Big time.

Mr. and Mrs. Swift’s new pad, otherwise known as the Northumberland Mansion, boasts a lot of history in Nashville — the house was built in the 1930s by a U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, and the list of previous owners includes Luke Lewis, chairman of the Universal Music Group.

When they move in, Taylor’s mom and pop will have four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms to call their own, not to mention an array of other assorted rooms — and, of course, a pool. Think they’re happy about paying for those guitar lessons right now?

Oh, my.  We paid for Volleyball, music, art, some college, weddings.....hmmmm.....maybe that big payout is just around the corner, LOL!
