Ottawa Hills High School Volleyball’s Ladaysia Alexander Named Athlete of the Week

Ottawa Hills High School volleyball player Ladaysia Alexander is this week's Meijer-97.9 WGRD Athlete of the Week.

Consider Alexander's selection for the honor one as much for her perseverance in addition to her being a stellar student-athlete.

"Ladaysia Alexander has had to overcome more obstacles in 17 years than most individuals would in their entire life," Ottawa Hills Coach Sara Sherry said.

Grand Rapids Teen Battling Cancer Surprised By Special Beach Volleyball Game

Wellspring Prep High School in Grand Rapids joined with Rob Bliss to create a very special volleyball experience at Pere Marquette in Muskegon today.

The game was played on top of storage containers, two stories up, right on the beach.

The purpose of the event was to give friends, family, and many others the opportunity to join together to show support for 15-year-old Megan Haan.  Haan is a huge volleyball fan and has been battling bone cancer.
