The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA), the Fed Galleries at KCAD, and the Grand Rapids Art Museum will display the work of 26 U.S. and international artists in Art of the Lived Experiment, a contemporary Disability Art exhibition on view April 10 – July 31, 2015.

The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids is about $1,000 short of its $10,000 fundraising goal for Exit Space Project. Exit Space Project would bring art installations to public places in Grand Rapids.

The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts’ (UICA) public art program Exit Space Project just released an open call for artist proposals for a series of murals to be installed in downtown Grand Rapids this spring. The project, which is partially funded by Downtown Grand Rapids, Inc., will place several pieces of vibrant public art within the downtown boundaries.

The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts is holding three events in the upcoming weeks to bring visitors closer to the artwork, the artists, and the collectors associated with their current exhibitions, Buying Friends: The Kortman Collection, and Looking Forward: The Artwork of Kirk Newman.

Next Thursday, December 18, the much anticipated "Found Footage Festival" returns to the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts at 7:30 pm. Volume 7 of the live comedy and screening event features unusual and humorous clips from VHS videotapes gathered from thrift stores, garage sales, warehouses, and dumpsters throughout the United States.

"Peralux" from NewD Media is drawing attention. The 2014 ArtPrize entry has been seen in the public vote Top 25.

UICA in Grand Rapids will hold a special memorial screening of "What Dreams May Come" in honor of Robin Williams on Tuesday, August 26. Funds raised at the screening will benefit a local mental health agency.
