The popular Beach Survival Challenge event is coming back to the Grand Haven State Park tomorrow, Saturday, June 20. The event was started 12 years ago in honor of Andy Fox who lost his life in a rip current. The event was created to raise awareness of water safety along Lake Michigan in a fun, educational atmosphere. Since its inception, over 3,000 kids and adults have participated.

Kids were kicking butts across Michigan today in places like Grand Rapids, Grand Haven and Hastings, but it wasn't because they were bullying their peers. They were standing up to Big Tobacco as part of the 20th annual Kick Butts Day.

A lucky Labrador is safe at home with her family after an harrowing experience in an icy Michigan channel. On Tuesday morning, the dog, Betsie Bay, fell into the Frankfort channel waters between Betsie Lake and Lake Michigan, in Frankfort. Staffers at the U.S. Coast Guard station in Frankfort spotted the dog and suited up to rescue the pup from the frigid waters.

As crowds head to Lake Michigan to see and explore the ice on the lake, the U.S. Coast Guard is warning of the dangers of the ice.
