If you happened to be outside late Sunday evening, you may have seen a bright light in the sky. But what was it?

Some Allegan County residents claim to have seen a huge fireball coming from the sky before crashing into Allegan Lake.

We could see over 20 meteors per hour.

When it's summer in Michigan, s'mores become one of the major food groups. There's never a bad time to enjoy them. The Michigan DNR has taken summer to a delicious new level by offering free s'mores during meteor shower watch parties on Friday and Saturday at some Michigan state parks!

Thousands of meteors are reported falling through the skies, but not many are caught on video. On Monday, one lucky Michigander caught one burning through the atmosphere. Driving south on 131, Andrew Gunneson happened to be filming as he drove, and caught the fireball as it burned through the Michigan sky.

The Perseid meteor shower is expected to be visible from Michigan in August. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is celebrating by hosting a number of meteor shower watch parties with complimentary s'mores, movies, and speakers.
