This is the closest many of us will ever get to seeing animals in a somewhat natural habitat. At least they are protected and won't be hunted down like so many animals in the wild. Rhino's in South Africa were the animals most recently in the news.
So if you want to see animals that are protected, loved, and nurtured we have two zoos in our area that are now officially open. The John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids and the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek.
Spring Break is here! Something everyone looks forward to, no school, hopefully, no work. But, wait, you're not going anywhere. Some of your friends have gone on break to warmer climates, but not you, and you're bored.
It seems as if there have been a million "unique and creative" marriage proposals lately. You know, where the guy has a camera, or friend with a camera, stationed to capture the exciting, surprise moment. Most have worked out...some, not. Good Morning America has featured several.
Another great weekend. Have you been to the John Ball Zoo lately? Lots of changes making our zoo bigger and better. For me, I still love the aquarium. Love watching the penguins. Love the brown trout. My favorite attraction at the zoo? No doubt about it, it is the otters. How can you not love the otters. I even like seeing otters in the wild as I'm fishing or kayaking -- knowing having otters present is going to wreck fishing.
And Grand Rapids has a new addition to the zoo this year. It's Kilo. He's a bobcat that was rescued from a drug smuggling operation out of Oklahoma City. He is the sole survivor in his litter and wasn't in the best of shape when he was rescued
