Do you remember the artist in ArtPrize 2015 whose work was literally dismantled, stolen, by the public last year?
He was Jeffrey Augustine Songco, and he's back with a new work.
Jeffrey Augustine Songco's installation "Revelry" brought 2,700 pounds of Mardi Gras beads to Calder Plaza in Grand Rapids at ArtPrize 2015. Those beads were (mistakenly?) taken on opening weekend.
Songco is back for ArtPrize Eight with the "Macarena" at UICA.
Jeffrey Augustine Songco’s ArtPrize installation “Revelry” at Calder Plaza is a 200 foot long chain link fence originally decorated with 2,700 pounds of Mardi Gras beads.
Only a fraction of those beads remain after most were taken by ArtPrize visitors on Saturday.

Songco explains how the piece came together, the use of color and more.
