Apple Farmer Says, “We’re Just Growing Trees This Year”

Sad.  That's all I can say I felt when I read this headline on mLive.  Sad.

Apple farmer says, "We're just growing trees this year."

It was the apple farmers greatest fear and honestly it was my greatest fear too, because no one in this country can grow tasty apples like Michigan farmers can.  Well, this season is pretty much a bust for West Michigan apple growers.

ALERT! Burglaries & Scams Are On The Rise In Grand Rapids & West Michigan

It happened to me recently and thought I'd share it with you.  I was working in the yard recently when it was raining, and three white males walked up my driveway.  They were in their early 20's, all wearing orange caps with white lettering on them, they parked a taupe colored, medium sized car in front of one of the neighbors homes

Obese White Women Shy Away From Colon Cancer Screenings

Research conducted recently show that obese, white, women, are less  likely than normal-weight white women or blacks of any weight or gender to  seek potentially life-saving colon cancer screenings.  The reluctance on their part is particularly serious because obesity is associated  with a higher risk for colon cancer and an increased risk of death from the disease

BANG Blow Dry Bar Opens Up In Grand Rapids’ Heartside District

Maybe you thought the same thing when you read this headline, "What is a blow dry bar?" Well, I was reading an article about this new place on Rapid Growth Media's website and it piqued my interest.

It sounds like an interesting concept.  The article talked about reintroducing that time when women used to get their hair washed and styled every week.  When I read that, I thought to myself yes, I remember going to the salon every week with my mom and sitting there waiting for her while all the other pretty women were getting their hair washed, cut and styled, some just getting their hair washed, curled and styled.

West Michigan Author, Greg Smith, On Faith, Hope, And Love Songs Sunday

West Michigan's very own Greg Smith joins me Sunday, on Faith Hope And Love Songs.  He just authored his latest book entitled Be Wise, Do Good, Live Free: Random Advice For The Best Kind Of Life.

The Grand Rapids Press probably put it best.  They said in a review that "Smith believes firmly in the power of stories to teach, educate, provide guidance and set examples."
