June 1, 2012 Every day is an exciting day around the John Ball Zoo.
Not only are people and families enjoying the exhibits and beauty of the zoo, but they're discovering the new fun. The zoo is wrapping up phase 1 of a multi-million dollar construction project this week that took roughly 2 years of planning and construction for what will be a $12.8 million investment.
May 31, 2012 Funicular, now there is a word I have never heard before. At first I thought it may have been a made up word. But no, it's for real. Funicular: is a motorized tram on a track and it just came to the John Ball Zoo.
May 15, 2012 This is the closest many of us will ever get to seeing animals in a somewhat natural habitat. At least they are protected and won't be hunted down like so many animals in the wild. Rhino's in South Africa were the animals most recently in the news.
So if you want to see animals that are protected, loved, and nurtured we have two zoos in our area that are now officially open. The John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids and the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek.

Which person are you? It is pretty clear that each of us lines up as a fan of a dog or cat, but usually not both.
The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus played Van Andel Arena over the weekend and you may have seen some protesters out in front. The name of the group is "Grand Rapids For Animals".
