This week on Sunday Morning Townsquare, Paul speaks with:

  • Rick DeVos - ArtPrize and Start Garden

Thanks for listening!

  • Rick DeVos, ArtPrize and Start Garden

Rick and I chat about some of the things he and his team have learned over the first few years of ArtPrize, the decision to extend first week voting and add more money for juried awards, ArtPrize short lists and which ArtPrize exhibits have caught his attention.  We also discuss what separates StartGarden from past entrepreneurial initiatives like Momentum and 5x5 Night, his personal involvement in helping to make StartGarden weekly selections, the newly opened StartGarden clubhouse, how some of the early StartGarden picks have progressed, growing up in an entrepreneurial family and how that shaped him, a few recent books he's read that he recommends to young entrepreneurs, the pitfalls entrepreneurs can face from planning things to death, the movie business, and more……

I do hope you'll have a chance to tune in! I'm really looking forward to introducing you to folks around West Michigan every week who are helping to positively shape our area with their music, their art, their bold business ideas, and the causes they're passionate about!

I'm joined by former Grand Rapids Mayor John Logie. We chat about what compelled him to run for Mayor in 1990, the state of the city and downtown when he took office, the roadmap he had for the city as he took office, challenges he encountered and how he pushed through them, accomplishments during his time as Mayor he's most fond of, and more……

I'm also joined by Bruce Tinker from the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. Bruce and I chat about the 2012-2013 line-up, the history of the theater, the restoration of its present location on Division, how community members can audition for upcoming roles for this year's line up, and more….
