Want to try camping, but don't have the gear?  Not sure where to start?

The State of Michigan has a program just for you.

Getting supplies and gear for camping can be a big investment, especially if you've never done it before.

The State of Michigan and The North Face have teamed to provide gear and instruction for new campers.  For $20 anyone who hasn't camped at a state park before will receive two nights of camping.

New campers will also receive instructions on how to pitch a tent, start a campfire, and other helpful tips to set up camp.

Gear will also be loaned to you from The North Face.  Gear includes:

  • tent
  • tarp
  • flashlight
  • lantern
  • camp stove
  • (4) hot dog /marshmallow cookers

Hoffmaster State Park and Muskegon State Park are among those participating.
