“We exist to bring music to the community,” says Cathy Holbrook, Executive Director of St. Cecilia Music Center. “The Jazz Series brings the most cultivated jazz musicians to Grand Rapids. The Acoustic Café Series not only brings a new genre to SCMC but also new audiences.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Series features world-class chamber music normally only heard in New York, London, and other major world cities. Grand Rapids is fortunate to have this intimate relationship with one of the world’s finest music institutions. Their concerts performed here are second to none.”

“The Great Artist Gala artists who have performed at SCMC reads like a who’s who in the music world and this year with Dianne Reeves is no exception,” adds Holbrook. “And, featuring the Monterey Jazz Festival On Tour will be a jazz dream!”

On October 29, 2015, St. Cecilia Music Center will host its annual Great Artist Gala with one of the most creative and technically accomplished female vocalists of the 21st Century, Dianne Reeves, an accomplished scat singer with a sumptuous voice who has made a career blending jazz, R&B, Latin and pop with jazz. A Detroit native, Reeves earned her fifth Grammy in 2015 for Best Jazz Vocal Album for Beautiful Life.  The album is a mix of creative covers of Marvin Gaye, Fleetwood Mac, Ani Difranco and Bob Marley blended with stirring original works. Wynton Marsalis notes that Reeves “Has one of the most powerful, purposeful and accurate voices of this or any time.”

The black-tie optional gala includes a roaming dinner and drinks beginning at 6:30pm, the 8:00pm Reeves performance and a post-concert dessert reception. Tickets are $125. The $250 benefactor ticket includes a donation to SCMC and a post-concert meet and greet with Dianne Reeves.
