The new year in Grand Rapids will really be kicked off in grand style at St. Cecilia Music Center.  Their Jazz Series on January 23, 2014 begins the season with a unique gathering of three musicians with Grand Rapids roots who have made it big in the international jazz world. The concert entitled “Homecoming – a Family Reunion” will feature a piano trio made up of Xavier Davis (piano), Quincy Davis (drums) and Matt Brewer (bass.). The three musicians will come back to Grand Rapids to perform together at St. Cecilia Music Center with their fathers, well-known singer and Grand Rapids Community College and Western Michigan University Gold Company director Duane Davis and local jazz trombonist and Aquinas professor Paul Brewer. This will be a never-before gathering of three musicians from Grand Rapids who are now in-demand in the jazz world, performing internationally, teaching at the nations best music schools and recording their own work singly and with other well known jazz musicians such as Betty Carter and Wynton Marsalis.

Tickets for the January 23, 2014 St. Cecilia Music Center Jazz Series concert are $35 and $40 and student tickets for $10. The concert will be followed by a complementary post-concert reception to meet the artists. St. Cecilia also offers a pre-concert reception for $15 that includes wine and hors d’oeuvres.
