Health care in Grand Rapids has never been better.  Congratulations to the three major hospitals, in addition to the Michigan State College of Medicine, the VanAndel Research Institute, the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, and more, for making West Michigan such a quality area.

The quality and growth certainly hasn't gone unnoticed.   MLive.com reported this week, the organ transplant programs at Spectrum Health and Saint Mary’s Health Care are among the 174 transplant programs in the country honored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Both hospitals received bronze medals – Saint Mary’s for kidney transplants and Spectrum for heart transplants.
