If ever there was a moment that you would have one of those "warm and fuzzy" feelings, last Saturday would probably have been it.  It was your chance to spend some time watching some very special people have some of the best fun of their lives. Special Olympic athletes from seven areas gathered to compete in the 2011 Southwest Regional Spring Games Saturday,  at Calvin College.

Area 11 (Kent and Barry Counties)  hosted the Southwest Regional Games where athletes from the surrounding areas had the chance to compete in six sports throughout the day.

Sports included, bocce, gymnastics, softball throw, horseshoes, aquatics and athletics.

The Spring Games featured seven areas from the Southwest Region: Area 6 (Montcalm and Ionia Counties), Area 11 (Kent and Barry Counties), Area 12 (Ottawa and Allegan Counties), Area 16 (Kalamazoo County), Area 17 (Van Buren, Berrien and Cass Counties), Area 18 (Branch and St. Joseph Counties) and Area 21 (Oceana, Newaygo and Muskegon Counties).

Thank you to game sponsors who helped make it possible,  Amway and Sam's Club, as well as Spartan Stores, which is also the Statewide Gold Medal Sponsor.

We have some wonderful people in West Michigan.  Make you feel all "warm and fuzzy."
