FAILURE:LAB showcases individual and personal stories of failure. Six speakers for its third Grand Rapids event have been announced.

FAILURE:LAB Grand Rapids will take place at Wealthy Theater on Friday, May 15. Tickets are now available.

FAILURE:LAB is a global platform allowing audience participants to work through their own solutions to failure, in order to eliminate the fear, stigma, and isolation associated with failure.

The single-evening event on May 15 is FAILURE:LAB’s marquee event in 2015. The night will showcase the personal stories of failure, courage, and determination from six storytellers. Each will focus on their biggest mistakes and the often harsh consequences.

“Failure can often be a undesired time of transition for many people, which positions most people with no ability to go back and equally incapable of moving forward,” said Jeff Manion, senior pastor at Ada Bible Church, who will speak on his own personal failure. “While our reactions provide insight and guidance on how to respond to these difficult transitions, expressing these moments publicly can have a lasting impact on a community.”

“FAILURE:LAB provides an incredible opportunity for people of diverse backgrounds and experience to come together with members of our community and crush the stigma of failure,” said Jordan O’Neil, co-founder of FAILURE:LAB. “Our third event in Grand Rapids comes amidst a growing list of international FAILURE:LABs, including Johannesburg, South Africa; Sydney, Australia; Pittsburgh, Pa., and many more.”

While FAILURE:LAB originated in Grand Rapids, the organization has grown globally, with 15 events planned in 2015, in cities around the globe. Each event will represent its own culture and community, and each FAILURE:LAB will have a distinct lack of lessons and canned answers to the adversity presented on stage.

FAILURE:LAB Grand Rapids will take place on May 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Wealthy Theater at 1130 Wealthy St. SE, Grand Rapids. Tickets are $25.

This year's FAILURE:LAB speakers are:

  • Diane Griffin, CEO of Griffin Properties
  • Bing Goei, president, Eastern Floral
  • Quemasi Hickerson, producer, artist, clothing line owner
  • Jeff Manion, senior pastor at Ada Bible Church
  • Cole Williams, family consultant and speaker

The gathering will also have a post-show reception in the Wealthy Theater Lobby. The FAILURE:LAB Stop and Talk Soiree is sponsored by New Holland Brewing Company and Vander Mill Cider.
