Social Kitchen & Bar Coming to Downtown Market in Grand Rapids

Downtown Market has announced a new restaurant opening this year.

Social Kitchen & Bar will open at Downtown Market late this summer or in fall.

The Grand Rapids location will be the second Social Kitchen & Bar for Chef Zack Sklar. Sklar currently runs a Social Kitchen & Bar restaurant in Birmingham in southeastern Michigan in suburban Detroit.

The restaurant will serve brunch, lunch and dinner; and will specialize in comfort food. The menu will change seasonally. It will also feature an extensive craft beer, wine and cocktail menu.

The Grand Rapids restaurant will share some menu items with the Birmingham location, but will also have many of its own.

The final menu is still a work in progress, but one item Chef Zack Sklar assured will be at the Grand Rapids location is their Crispy Brussels Sprouts appetizer. The appetizer includes almonds, capers, parsley, and garlic. It is one of the most popular dishes at their Birmingham location.

A satellite location of Chef Sklar's catering company, Cutting Edge Cuisine, will also be opening and based at Downtown Market.

Chef Sklar said, "We are extremely pumped to open a restaurant in Grand Rapids, create a base for our catering operation and utilize some of the produce of West Michigan’s farm community.”
