One of the 'unsung' hero's here in Kent County, Arbor Circle's The Bridge, will be "looking good" thanks to a $20,000 grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Outstate Michigan.

The Bridge has been in need of a much-needed facelift of it's 30-year-old facility designed to provide a safe shelter for runaway youths.

The Bridge, which has a long-standing history of providing shelter and support services to hundreds of runaway and homeless youths in Kent County each year, will complete its facility makeover today, September 13, with a painting party from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

They'll be painting seven residential bedrooms, installing various household items including everything from new futons and window blinds, to dressers and kitchen supplies.

They will be giving tours of the newly renovated recreational space, as well.

The Bridge is located at 1115 Ball NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505

To get there, enter off Leonard Street.   Arbor Circle is located near the corner of Leonard St. and Ball NE. The entrance is immediately to the right of Michigan Works. Turn left and follow the driveway back until you see a sports field ahead of you, then follow the curve left to reach The Bridge.

One note of caution, to honor The Bridge residents’ privacy and confidentiality, no faces or names can be used.
