Heads up if you're a customer of Great Lakes Energy.

Last night, a customer of GLE was contacted by a person posing as a GLE representative or employee.  That person threatened to shut off service if the customer didn't pay their account within 45 MINUTES.

That customer hung up and reported the incident to GLE today.  According to GLE:

The caller had an accent and identified himself as being part of the “Great Lakes Energy Disconnect Department.”

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from Great Lakes Energy and you feel pressured for immediate payment or personal information, you should hang up and call GLE at 1-888-485-2537.  Co-op members - or anyone, for that matter - should never give out personal information, account numbers or social security numbers over the phone or internet to someone they do not know.
