Rosalina the dog is our special pet of the week.

Andy Rent talked about her on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Trudy, from the Humane Society of West Michigan, brought Rosalina into the studios. Rosalina is a 2 year old, female Dachshund Terrier.  She's smaller in size and black and white in color.    She came to the Humane Society from another shelter and what they said is so true:  Rosaline "has stolen our hearts.  She's got the head of a lab and the body of a dachshund.  So silly!" and "so well behaved).

Rosalina previously tested positive for heartworms and has been treated. To make sure she doesn't get them again, adopters are reqired to purchase 6 months worth of preventative and HSWM will match another 6 months (the year is then covered!).

According to the My Terrier Dog, it is a mix of the terrier dog breed and that really short dog that originally hails from Germany (the Dachshund is sometimes the symbol of Germany – that’s a fact). It comes in various colors (black, brown, tan) and it can at times be a mixed breed between the dachshunds and the rat terrier dog. Don’t worry it is not as temperamental as terrier. In fact they love to love and be loved and they really love to cuddle.

Trudy announced the Humane Society's new hours; Sundays from 11 - 4 p.m. (so our open hours are now Tuesday through Friday, 12 - 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 - 4 p.m.).  Closed Monday.

Don't forget Summer Camp for you kids. There are all sorts of opportunities for kids to work with animals, learn so much and have fun doing it. Visit www.hswestmi.org/camps
