Gas prices are going thru the roof.  Wanna save some money?  Ride the bus.    Public Transportation advocates say those who use public transportation can save about $9,900 annually or $825 a month.

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) says using public transit saves an average of $9,904 annually. And $825 per month, based on the most recently average national gas price of $3.47 per gallon.

"We've definitely seen a correlation between rising gas prices and
ridership growth," said Jennifer Kalczuk, spokeswoman for The Rapid mass transit bus system in Grand Rapids. "People are looking for cost-effective alternatives to driving."
