It's been a quiet start to the flu season in West Michigan, but statewide we are seeing the highest rate of report of flu-like symptoms since last spring.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' weekly flu report shows that flu-like symptoms are steadily increasing.

The increase in Northern Michigan looks dramatic, but the increase involves fewer total patients than other regions and the previous week had no reports of flu-like symptoms in Northern Michigan. The Northern Michigan region includes the Upper Peninsula and the northern Lower Peninsula.

Although it is the highest rate of report seen in months, the overall statewide level of reports of flu-like symptoms remains relatively low.
