RECALL – GM Recalls 7.6 Million More Vehicles

Monday afternoon, General Motors announced more recalls. These new recalls combined with previous recalls from this year affect 8.4 million vehicles worldwide, most of those have been recalled for faulty ignition switches.

The vehicles recalled on Monday add up to the company’s largest single day of recalls this year. In addition to the ignition switch recalls, the automaker is recalling vehicles for faulty wiring and fasteners.

Trading in GM stock was halted prior to the announcement.

The vehicles recalled affected by the recall include:

For unintended ignition switch rotation.

  • 1997-2005 Chevrolet Malibu
  • 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue
  • 1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero
  • 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am
  • 2000-2005 Chevy Impala and Monte Carlo
  • 2004-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix
  • 2003-2014 CTS
  • 2004-2006 Cadillac SRX

For issues with insulation on the engine block heater power cord:

  • 2011-2014 Chevrolet Cruze
  • 2012-2014 Chevrolet Sonic
  • 2013-2014 Chevrolet Trax
  • 2013-2014 Buick Encore and Verano

For improper torquing of a “Superhold” joint fastener:

  • 2014 Chevrolet Camaro
  • 2014 Chevrolet Impala
  • 2014 Buick Regal
  • 2014 Cadillac XTS

For an overload in the feed that may cause underhood fusible link to melt due to electrical overload, resulting in potential smoke or flames that could damage the electrical center cover and/or the nearby wiring harness conduit:

  • 2007-2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD
  • GMC Sierra HD with and auxiliary battery

For a possible electrical short in the driver’s door module that could disable the power door lock and window switches and, in rare cases, overheat the module:

  • 2005-2007 Buick Ranier
  • 2005-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer
  • 2005-2007 GMC Envoy
  • 2005-2007 Isuzu Ascender
  • 2005-2007 Saab 9-7x
  • 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT
  • 2006 GMC Envoy XL
