The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of more than a million certain smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, because they fail to sound an alarm following a power outage.

Kidde hard-wired smoke and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms could fail to sound if there is a fire or a carbon monoxide incident following a power outage. This recall involves about 1.2 million units sold in the United States and about 112,000 in Canada. They were sold at many national retail stores. Consumers should immediately contact Kidde for a free replacement smoke or combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector.

Models impacted: residential smoke alarm model i12010S with manufacture dates between December 18, 2013 and May 13, 2014, combination smoke/CO alarm il2010SCO with manufacture dates between December 30, 2013 and May 13, 2014, and combination smoke/CO alarm model KN-COSM-IBA with manufacture date between October 22, 2013 and May 13, 2014.
