If you live in West Michigan, you already what a spectacular part of the country we live in.  If you don't know that then that tells me you haven't traveled much.

Rand McNally, for those who don't know, is a very famous map maker and they are looking for nominations to include in their Best of the Road contest.  They are looking to identify some of the "best" small towns in the United States of America and they want to include places that travelers might enjoy as well.

So, what do you think is the best small town in West Michigan and what are some of the highlights in our area?  I think I would include Coopersville and the train!  But what about you and your picks?

Submissions will be taken through May 15 at bestoftheroad.com.

Then, five different teams of travelers this summer will make a 3-week cross-country vacation along the scenic routes and back roads (I would love to be part of one of those teams).  They will then decide the winners for most patriotic, most beautiful, friendliest, most fun and best for food.

By the way, if you want to be part of the Rand McNally road team to determine the country's best towns and spots plus have a shot at winning $10,000 you can apply between April 23 and May 15.
