The White House announced that President Barack Obama will be visiting Michigan this week.

Obama will be visiting the Ford Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne when he visits Wednesday.

The president's remarks, which are expected to take place Wednesday afternoon, are closed to the public but will be streamed line at www.whitehouse.gov/live.

Obama is making the trip to metro Detroit to kick off a three-day, three-city tour to talk about proposals he plans to highlight in the Jan. 20 State of the Union address.

The president will talk about the administration's efforts to help the auto industry, including the 2009 rescue of General Motors and Chrysler.

According to a Ford website, Michigan Assembly opened in 1957 and produces the Focus, including the electric-powered model, as well as the C-MAX Hybrid and Energi.

Obama will also be visiting Phoenix and Tennessee as part of the tour.
