Power Outage In Downtown Grand Rapids

Areas in and around downtown Grand Rapids are without power at the moment.  Consumers Energy says that an animal got into the Wealthy Street substation, took a few wrong steps, took on some electricity and caused the power outage.

There are three separate outages affecting more than 2,000 people west and south of downtown.  The downtown YMCA was one of the businesses affected, as was the Big Boy on Pearl Street (which makes me crave a chocolate shake, but that's another story)

Consumers hopes to have the power restored by 12:30 pm.
