‘Portage, MI’ Appears Onscreen During Tonight’s Episode of ‘Modern Family’

UPDATE 9:30 p.m. - ABC switched the city name to Downington, PA. Previews of tonight's episode used the city name of Portage, MI.

An early look at tonight's episode of ABC's Modern Family shows that Portage, Michigan will get a brief onscreen appearance as the location of a fictional online news story.

Tonight's episode, "Connection Lost," is unique in that the entire episode takes place through electronic screens including computers and cellphones.

About one minute into the episode, 'Portage, MI' appears onscreen as the location of a fictional online story about laundry that Claire (Julie Bowen) reads on her laptop while talking to Phil (Ty Burrell) with FaceTime.

It's all over after about 20 seconds.

Without the aid of a pause button it may be hard to tell, but the rest of the story features Georgia-area locations including: Gwinnett County, Cedar Hills and Lawrenceville. 

The episode airs on ABC at 9:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, February 25.
