Paul Simon Sings At Ground Zero

There was a lot of compelling TV coverage of the 10th anniversary memorials for 911 yesterday.  Were you watching?

During Sunday’s  ceremony in New York City, marking the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, Paul Simon gave a haunting acoustical performance of ‘The Sound of Silence’ while some onlookers wept.

The song that first propelled Simon and his former musical partner Art Garfunkel into the national spotlight in 1965 was originally written by Simon in reaction to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, but its lyrics took on a new poignancy during the Ground Zero memorial.
