Parking spaces downtown will be in high demand Thursday as workers compete with the thousands of attendees of the Get Motivated seminar at the Van Andel Arena.

City parking officials say traffic could be a problem if more than 15,000 persons attending the “Get Motivated” seminar at the Van Andel Arena compete for parking spaces with downtown's weekday commuters.

“The influx of vehicles in Grand Rapids for this event is greater than the available parking options,” said Pam Ritsema, managing director of the city's Parking Services Department.
