Amway Family Fireworks Primer

The Amway Family Fireworks are Saturday at Ah-Nab-Awen Park next to Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and the Grand Rapids Public Museum along the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids.

Activities, including music, entertainment, food, family-friendly fun and more, run from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m., with the fireworks going off at 10:30 p.m.

Here's a primer to help you attend and enjoy the Fourth of July event, with the title sponsor being Ada-based Amway. See you there.

2015 Michigan Governor’s Service Award Winners Include West Michigan People and Businesses

Governor Rick Snyder presented the 2015 Governor’s Service Awards to ten extraordinary volunteers and organizations at Monday night’s annual Governor's Service Awards at Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids.

Winners were selected from 40 finalists and included West Michigan-area people and businesses.

'Tis the season for me to get irritated by the people in my neighborhood who have been shooting off fireworks and scaring my dog for the past two weeks.

Byron Center Survey Focuses on Racial Equity and Neighborhood Change

VoiceGR is an annual survey conducted by researchers at Grand Valley State University’s Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy.

Johnson Center at GVSU has announced that the VoiceGR survey is expanding to include surveys for Byron Center and Muskegon this year with an emphasis on questions focusing on racial equity and neighborhood change.
