Summer time is fair time.  And, this week, the 54th Ottawa County Fair is underway at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds.  You'll find demolition derby races and street performers entertaining visitors throughout the fairgrounds.

It's short, only a six-day fair, but is expected to draw upwards of 75,000 people.

The carnival midway rides began at noon yesterday, and continue throughout the run of the fair.   Other kid-friendly events include a pedal pull, a Ronald McDonald magic show, and pie-eating contest.

A number of 4-H shows are planned during the week, including a horse show on Wednesday and dog show on Thursday. Truck and tractor pulling is scheduled for Wednesday, a motocross competition on Thursday and a rodeo will be held Friday. Admission to the fair is $3 for anyone 3 and older, with most grandstand shows charging an additional $7 for adults, and $3 for kids 3-13. Visitors can also purchase wristbands for rides on the midway, with prices ranging from $10 for unlimited rides on Tuesday to $14 on Saturday.

It's easy to get to the fair at Ottawa County Fairgrounds.  They're located at 1286 Ottawa Beach Road, just west of 152nd Avenue.
