Entertainment Weekly has released the 2015 much anticipated 2015 Oscar nominations, and to no surprise, Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel led this year’s class of Oscar films with nine nominations apiece, including nods for Best Picture and Best Director. American Sniper, Clint Eastwood’s movie about Chris Kyle, tied The Imitation Game with eight nominations, and Bradley Cooper nabbed a Best Actor nod, nudging out Selma‘s David Oyelowo and Nightcrawler‘s Jake Gyllenhaal. Richard Linklater’s Boyhood, the movie that took 12 years to make, was honored with six nominations, including Best Picture.
