New MI Traffic Law Regarding Passing Emergency Vehicles On Roadside

There’s a new traffic law on the books in Michigan, which takes effect mid-February;  well, technically it’s an addition to the current “Move Over” law.

ClickonDetroit.com reports that Yesterday, Governor Snyder signed into law a more comprehensive law for moving over, including now requiring you to lower your speed 10 m.p.h. as you pass an emergency vehicle if you can’t switch lanes.

He also made it where it now involves all roadside vehicles including garbage trucks.  It also includes two trucks, utlity vehicles and road maintenance vehicles, which would mean snowplows as well.   .

The expanded “Move Over” law will go into effect in mid-February and drivers who fail to follow the rule, could be subjected to a $400 fine, according to ClickonDetroit.com.
