Grand Rapids' newest professional basketball team has opened voting for fans to help choose their name.

Four choices were offered on Thursday, but many fans were disappointed with the options.

The team has offered an explanation.

The GR D-League team will be a Detroit Pistons affiliate and will play their home games at the Delta Plex in Grand Rapids.

Many did not like the options and were not shy about sharing that opinion.

It's also worth noting that small print at the bottom of the page where you can vote for your favorite name says, "GR D-League reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine actual team name, which may or may not be selected from submitted suggestions."

The statement seems to be referring to last month when fans were encouraged to submit their own team name ideas, but it may still apply.
