The tax return deadline is almost here.  And, yes, this is one of the most stressful times of the year.  You have to pull all of your records together, that is if you can remember where they are.  Then you get the forms, which don't make any sense to you, and try to fill them out.  I'm telling you, there's a lot of pain here.  You know you need help, but it cost money, and you can't afford it.

I have great news - you might be able to get your state and federal taxes prepared and filed for free through MyFreeTaxes.com or United Way's Kent County Tax Credit Coalition. Heart of West Michigan United Way offers two great tax resources for Kent County residents:
1. Skip the tax preparer and file online -- free. If you earned $57,000 or less in 2012, use MyFreeTaxes.com to file both your federal and state taxes. Visit MyFreeTaxes.com for more information.
2. Use United Way's Kent County Tax Credit Coalition's FREE tax service if your household income is $55,000 or less. For more information, qualifications and directions to one of KCTCC 's free tax sites please contact 2-1-1. Since 2002, KCTCC has generated almost $61.5 million in tax credits for over 50,000 tax payers in our community.

Hope that helps, and, Happy Tax Filing!
