Medical Mile

News today that MSU is moving forward looking into building a bio-medical facility in downtown Grand Rapids.

Three years ago, MSU opened the Secchia Center as part of the Medical Mile.  That is now the headquarters for MSU College of Human Medicine. They then purchased the former Grand Rapids Press building in 2012 for $12 million.

Over the next few weeks, faculty and students from MSU Land Policy Institue and School of Planning, Design and Construction will be doing research to move the project forward.

MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon says:

“We were pleased to acquire the downtown properties last year to accommodate the demands of our growing medical research program,” Simon said. “We are excited as we take this next step with students, researchers and faculty engaging with local leaders and community partners to develop a model biosciences corridor in Grand Rapids.”
