The Detroit News is reporting that former Michigan State University basketball great Mateen Cleaves has been charged in an alleged sexual assault case.

Cleaves has been charged unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to commit sexual penetration, second-degree criminal sexual conduct, and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Cleaves faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

39-year-old Cleaves, who currently lives in Grand Blanc, is charged with allegedly assaulting a 24-year-old woman on September 15, 2015 following a golf outing.

The prosecutor's office said in a statement that arrangements are being made for Cleaves to turn himself in.

Cleaves went on to the NBA after leaving MSU. He retired in 2009. He is currently an analyst for CBS Sports.
