This Friday, July 11, is the third night of Movies in the Park 2014 at Ah-Nab-Awen Park, in front of the Ford Museum on the Grand River. Sponsored by Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. (DGRI) and Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, Friday's movie is Dreamgirls. It's a film about a trio of female singers’ rise to fame during the Detroit Motown era of the 1960s. (Can you say Supremes?)

This is a great opportunity for people to come and enjoy Downtown Grand Rapids.  It really is fun for the whole family.

Pre-movie entertainment begins at 7 p.m., and the film will start at dusk. Local performers Kathy Lamar and Bob VanStee will sing and play jazz before the show. For the kids, Friends of Grand Rapids Parks will provide a playground to enjoy. For the adults, there's  a chance to win a $100 gift card to Founders Brewing Co.

Everyone is welcome to bring chairs or blankets along with food, wine, and beer. A variety of local vendors will have additional food available for purchase. Vendors will include GoNuts, What the Truck, Daddy Pete’s BBQ, Woking Taco, Vito’s Pizza, Dorothy and Tony’s Gourmet Kettle Corn, Ferris Coffee, and Spoonlickers. Visit downtowngr.org for more information.

Celebration! Cinema is the Series Sponsor. The West Michigan Film and Video Alliance will be the evening’s Community Partner.
