That's a wacky headline, isn't it.  But it's true.  Here's what happened.

A Texas couple, Tammy Cooper and her husband, moved to a new house on a cul-de-sac in a quiet La Porte, Texas neighborhood so they would have a safe place for their nine and six-year-old children to grow up.

Little did she know it was 'she' that wasn't safe.  Safe, that is, from a wacky, nosy, and interfering neighbor.

One day, as she sat on her lawn watching her children play on their scooters, a police car pulled in front of her home and the officer approached her. Cooper asked him what he was here for. “We’re here for you,” he said.

It seems that one of Cooper’s neighbors had called the cops and said that Cooper was allowing her children to play in the cul-de-sac unsupervised.

Come on!!!

Cooper was handcuffed and arrested for child endangerment, and spent the next 18 hours in jail, no less.

Well, the charges were eventually dropped but Cooper is suing the La Porte Police Department, the officer and the busybody neighbor for the humiliating experience.

You have to ask, why didn't the Police Officer investigate the situation instead of just taking someone's phone-call-word for it and arresting her?

The La Porte Police Department said they are “confident of the known actions of the officers on the scene that evening.”   For the neighbor's part.....no comment.

What do you think?
