5-year-old Haley Elswick has been safe, according to FOX-17 and the Battle Creek Police Department.

The statement from police states that Elswick's grandfather and a friend of her mother had her and came forward to police Wednesday afternoon.

On Tuesday, police asked for the public’s help in locating the missing girl.  At that time, they believed she was with her mother, Cassandra Elswick.  There was a court order to remove Haley into temporary custody of Child Protective Services.

The mother and child were not at their residence on Tuesday when police went to check on the child's well-being, which prompted the search for both of them.
