Miss Diamond the dog is our special pet of the week.

Andy Rent talked about her on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Meet Diamond, an American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Brooke, from the Humane Society, brought Diamond into the studios.

Diamond is 3-year old, Staffordshire Terrier. She is a transfer from another shelter, and a bit shy. Diamond is very loving and would do well in a home with respectful children.

According to the American Kennel Club, the Staffordshire Terrier is a confident, good-natured and smart dog. They enjoy daily exercise and is adaptable to almost anything you want to do to provide this. Sounds like a good pet to me.

Friday is Kitten Yoga night at Seva Yoga in East Grand Rapids. It is sold out, but due to it's success, there may be more classes in the future, and, no, you don't do yoga with a cat. The Humane Society will have kittens there and they will roam free.

Sunday, they are having an event at the Humane Society regarding the opening of the designer pet store, Barking Boutique, in Grandville at the end of the month. The Humane Society will be protesting about this business, and if interested, you may meet at 1 p.m. this Sunday, April 23 to learn about, and help organize, a peaceful protest.

Brooke also mentioned the April 29th Bissell Pet Foundation "Empty the Shelter" event. On that Saturday, Bissell is covering the adoption fee for all pets adopted from 69 shelters across the state including the Humane Society.

As always, you can get all the information on the Humane Society website or call (616) 453-8900.
