We mentioned this earlier this week, and now it's 100 percent official: Miley Cyrus has been chosen to induct Joan Jett & The Blackhearts into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 18.

While some rock purists may not be happy with the choice of Miley, HOF President and CEO Greg Harris defended the decision.

“It was interesting to learn that they are mutual admirers," Harris told The Cleveland Plain Dealer. "They're great friends and admirers."

Also on hand to celebrate Jett will be Dave Grohl and Tommy James, of Tommy James and the Shondells, who’ll perform as part of Jett induction festivities.

This year’s Hall of Fame class also includes Green Day, Lou Reed, Ringo Starr, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Bill Withers and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which will take place in Cleveland, will air on HBO on May 20.

Here's Miley singing a medley of Jett tunes with Jett earlier this year.
