Get ready for another way to enjoy winter in West Michigan.

Michigan's annual Winter Free Fishing Weekend is February 15 - 16.

No fishing license is required for this popular event. All other fishing regulations still apply.

Michigan residents and non-residents are welcome to participate.

Michigan's Winter Free Fishing Weekend has been enjoyed annually since 1994.

With 11,000 inland lakes and over 3,000 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, Michigan is the perfect place to have fun fishing.

“Michigan is home to many fun and family-friendly outdoor activities during the colder months – and fishing is definitely among the most popular,” said DNR Director Keith Creagh. “Our Winter Free Fishing Weekend is a great time for people to get outdoors and explore the state’s broad range of Pure Michigan fishing opportunities. There’s something for everyone – on your own, with a friend or with the whole family.”

Sounds cold, but sounds like fun.
