Money-rates.com says Michigan is a great place to make a living.

After ranking Michigan 32nd in 2014, Michigan has climbed to sixth place on their list "The Best and Worst States to Make a Living 2015".

Five factors were used to compile the rankings: average wages, state tax rates, cost of living, unemployment rate and workplace injuries/illness/fatalities.

Money-rates.com says the return of the auto industry has helped Michigan. They also mention the unemployment rate dropping from 7.4 percent to 5.4 percent and Michigan's below-average cost of living as major factors.

At the top of the list was Texas, followed by Washington and Wyoming. Low cost of living, no state income taxes and good numbers in all categories led Texas to the top spot.

At the bottom of the list was Hawaii. Oregon was 49th and Maine was 48th. Taxes, cost of living and a median home value of $537,300 were among the reasons Hawaii did poorly.
