The fall color season in Michigan is a brief but flamboyant display of nature flaming out before the long, cold winter. It is at once joyous and sad.

Photographers along the Pictured Rocks in the Upper Peninsula and the Au Sable River in the Huron National Forest have shared their beauty with us, so if you can't make it out to the woods, allow me to bring the woods to you.

Let's start along the North Country Trail in the beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, where artist in residence Bryan Mitchell took these wonderful photos of the fall color and the glory of Lake Superior's fickle autumn moods. It's an instant mood changer, I guarantee it.

And then there's this stunning drone footage taken along the Alcona Dam on the Au Able River in the heart of the Huron National Forest. Stunning. Credit to Blue Racer Productions.

While many bemoan the coming snow and winter, the show nature is putting on right now in our state is nothing short of spectacular. Get out there and live in it.
