Michigan has a lot to boast about: great beerbeaches, food-- and we know it's full of hot vacation spots.

One Michigan deatination is being recognized as the No. 1 Vacation spot in the U.S.

The Patch reports that Trip Advisor has named Mackinac Island the top summer travel destination in America!

Mackinac Island beat out Martha's Vineyard, Jackson Hole, Ocean City, Bar Harbor and more.

To determine the ranking, Trip Advisor looked at the greatest increase in seasonal hotel booking interest and the average one-week vacation costs for hotels and airfare.

Here's Trip Advisor's praise for Mackinac Island,

"This charming island is a throwback to old-timey seaside leisure with the candy-colored facades of downtown shops. Mackinac is world-famous for its homemade fudge and travelers can work off sugar highs by exploring the limestone bluffs of Mackinac Island State Park."

They also shared some stats about the Up North hot spot:

  • Avg. Summer Nightly Hotel Rate: $347
  • Avg. Summer Domestic Round-trip Airfare: $476 (to Cherry Capital Airport/TVC)
  • Avg. Summer Week Expense Per Person: $2,905
